I like children's poems that rhyme, and I like words put together so beautifully they move you without ever having to rhyme. For example:
"Out beyond ideas
of wrong doing and right doing,
there is a field.
I'll meet you there."
"Out beyond ideas
of wrong doing and right doing,
there is a field.
I'll meet you there."

That's pretty good... Now watch.
"Out beyond ideas
of wrong doing and right doing,
there is a field.
I'll meet you there."
"For in thoughts we come apart
Questioning our motives
As the ground moves
I fall to my knees."

Keep it going then... Think of another verse if you can.

I didn't actually write the first one, I saw it somewhere and thought it was touching. I'll try to think of another verse.

She was lost in the beauty of her own mind
It was lovely in there
fantasy filled thoughts
hopes and dreams danced in her head
offering a peace that could not be in the real world

offering a peace that could not be in the real world
And so she awoke
Looked down and saw the wrinkly hands
A child snooped
And she blew a kiss
Then rocked back to sleep
It was lovely in there
fantasy filled thoughts
hopes and dreams danced in her head
offering a peace that could not be in the real world
And so she awoke

Hopes and dreams fill her heart
Two things she never wanted to be apart.
Keep them there,
safe and sound,
while her mind keeps her close to the ground.
Keep your wits about you
Don't get lost in the fantasy within,
it could devour and undo-
everything you had planned.
Two things she never wanted to be apart.
Keep them there,
safe and sound,
while her mind keeps her close to the ground.

Rubbing a tear from her delicate eye
The man upstairs waved good-bye
For now she breathed deeply the warm house air
She knew everything would turn out fair
For once in her life she gave concern
For a boy she met, but never learned.

She gave him her heart and the power to heal
but he had other plans on thoughts of how she should feel
He strung up her heart like a puppet to tease,
and she danced around as he pulled each string with ease.

So she took some scissors from the grave of her remorse
And cut the cord of the fatal course
The boy so tender, kind, loving and true
Became a nightmare
Oh what to do?
He appeared in a moment and flash of true grit
Saw her working a ploy to sit
But stole the cushion by which she lay
The lady in rags did not stay.

But the woman was quick in thoughts in her mind
to come up with a plan to rid him of what made him blind.
She was not afraid,
for you see,
she let him play with her heart strings so free.
She was strong and could handle the puppetry he plays,
for she knew....one day, some day,
he just might wake up unblinded by bitter,
and decide he could love her with just one heart flitter.
She wanted to make him feel warm again
She knew the numbness had to be then,
more painful than feeling even pain.
His heart is what she aimed to gain.
to come up with a plan to rid him of what made him blind.

So he took a hatchet and killed a turkey
Brought the meat to a blender and mixed in some pepper
He took the woman's feeding tube and pushed the meat through
The woman digested it loudly
The sounds it made awoke the boy
It was his wife of fifty year!
He fell in love again
Took her by the hand
And kissed her aged lips.

She lept with joy, never realizing at her age she could do!
He finally was unblinded by the bitter and could see her through.
Nothing but excitement came from the woman
she could now die happy knowing he loved her again;
For at her old age,
he was her last chance
to write the unfinished story she had left on the page.

As the final words left his lips
The woman swayed her hips
They fell on one another for a single moment
They're bath robes opened
And their wrinkled corpses touched
Sealed together in harmony
As two died in each others arms
Naked
The police came near
A smell appeared
The doors opened
And to their surprise
A skeleton lay with open eyes
A final note was seen
A formula for two mixed with beans
The officer fell to his knees and prayed
For a love so true
Would never fade.
